WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID
“Thank you for lending your expertise to the Savannah College of Art and Design...the United Student Forum was flooded with complimentary remarks”
- Paula S. Rowan (Provost-S.C.A.D.)
“Randal has become a regular at our Suzuki weekend workshops. He has the knack of drawing out the potential of every child; even the shyest of students. He is very professional yet lots of fun for both the students and their parents.”

BACKGROUND
Randal Harrison owes his foundation in the musical world to his mentor and founder of the American Suzuki Institute, Prof. Margery V. Aber. As a child Randal worked with the creator of the Suzuki Method, Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. As an adult his studies include work with Dr. Richard Davis, renowned jazz and avant-garde bassist at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and Matt Glaser, jazz violinist at Berkley College of Music, Boston. Harrison has registered training with the Suzuki Association of the Americas: level IA under Michelle George and levels IB-IV under Pat D’Ercole. He has directed Suzuki violin programs in Appleton and Neenah-Menasha, WI and is now the director of Embracing Suzuki Talent Education Across Madison (ESTEAM). Randal Harrison has been a visiting professor of jazz history at Savannah College of Art and Design, fiddle instructor at Madison Area Technical College and the president of the Suzuki Association of Wisconsin, 2006-2007. Other honors include a 1994 EMMY nomination for composition and the 2004 MAMA’s for Best Blues Artist and Best Jazz Album.

Embracing Suzuki Talent Education Across Madison (ESTEAM)
For interested Students:
ESTEAM is loacted on the near east side of Madison, WI
About ESTEAM
ESTEAM is a small teaching studio offering private violin lessons, group classes, recitals, and an annual workshop with many additional performance and social opportunities for students and their families.
At ESTEAM the skills and artistry taught while learning to play the violin are the vehicles to encourage and foster that sense of joy in lifelong learning, a “can do” spirit of excellence and an empathy for others that makes the world a better place for all of us.
A key part of the Suzuki Method is to create a fun, supportive environment for your child to learn in. Call now to start the process and ensure your readiness to begin this fall.
How to Start
# 1) Give me a call!
# 2) Give me a call!
Before we start doing things like purchasing instruments and other teaching materials we set up a time for you and your child to meet with me. At that time we can determine if your child is developmentally ready to start and answer any questions you may have about your role as the home teacher, my teaching style, tuition, schedule, etc., etc..
As parent/coach you need no previous musical training. You will be the one taking notes at lessons and facilitating daily practice and listening at home. You will be asked to learn a few tunes on the violin. This is extremely helpful in modeling good listening and practice habits, making your job as the home teacher much easier.
For those of you anxious to begin right away, you can purchase the book, “Nurtured By Love” by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. I’ve found this book to be a great introduction for parents to the Suzuki approach to Talent Education. This is REQUIRED reading to be completed before the start of lessons.
